National Grid plc is one of the world’s largest investor-owned energy utilities, committed to delivering electricity and gas safely, reliably and efficiently to the customers and communities we serve in the US and UK.

As the England and Wales Transmission network owner, National Grid is well placed to facilitate and help drive the transition to cleaner transport in the UK by bringing the right people together, to have the right conversations and shape future solutions.

National Grid is there to support decarbonising all modes of transport, no matter the scale and complexity, and understands the huge changes needed now to enable the transition to clean transport. To succeed – significant energy infrastructure will be required to connect cleaner and greener energy to transport and this will need new ideas and collaboration.

The energy and transport transition will happen while keeping the lights on through the day-to-day responsibility of maintaining and operating 7,200 kilometres (4,474 miles) of overhead line, 1,500 kilometres (932 miles) of underground cable and 342 substations of National Grid assets.
